Public, Meet Jon Taylor

Tuesday April 17th

7:30 p.m. @ The Berwick
14 Palmer St
Dudley Sq. Roxbury

Multi-media artist Jon Taylor is embarking on a series of social experiments that will explore the commodification of the human body as related to modern man's treatment of the landscape. He will create sculptural performances that augment and exaggerate oddities of human behavior. His work will be documented through video and photography and be presented with frequent updates on the Berwick website.

At the opening on April 17th Jon will present a limited time only real estate opportunity inviting the public to
lease and develop portions of his head!!

Artist Jon Taylor constructs humorous situations that critique disturbing human habits. He utilizes aspects of sculpture, performance, photography, video, and drawings, to talk about basic, universal needs such as food, shelter, and companionship. Through this light-hearted approach, he seeks to expose selected absurdities of modern life and explore new modes of existence.

Currently in the middle of a stretch of residencies, he has been to Jentel, Wyoming, Vermont Studio Center, The Berwick Research Institute, and upcoming at The Bemis Center in Omaha, NE and Sculpture Space in Utica, NY. His work will be exhibited this fall at the New Bedford art Museum.

Jon Taylor was born in New Jersey. He received a BFA from Alfred University and an MFA from UMass Dartmouth. He resides in New Bedford, Massachusetts.
